The Technical Catalysis Group (Tech-Cat) is an interdisciplinary research group operating at the Faculty of Chemistry, focused on the design, synthesis, characterization, and practical application of modern catalytic systems. The group’s activities combine basic science with an engineering approach, focused on implementing solutions relevant to the chemical, energy, and environmental industries..
Our guidelines
Tech-Cat’s primary research areas include heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis, the development of catalysts based on transition metals, metal oxides, and nanostructured materials, and the modification of catalytic surfaces to improve their activity, selectivity, and durability. Particular attention is paid to processes related to raw material transformation, energy conversion, sustainable chemistry, and reducing the environmental impact of chemical processes.
Activities
The Tech-Cat group conducts research on the kinetics and mechanisms of catalytic reactions, utilizing modern analytical and spectroscopic techniques, as well as process modeling and simulation tools. Another important element of the team’s activities is the scaling of catalytic processes and collaboration with industry in the development and optimization of technologies.
Mission
The Technical Catalysis Group actively participates in national and international research projects, educates undergraduate and graduate students, and supports knowledge transfer and innovation. The team’s mission is to develop modern technical catalysis as a key element of sustainable chemistry and modern industrial technologies.

Tech-Cat is a modern and dynamically developing research group at the Faculty of Chemistry, specializing in creating innovative solutions in catalysis for science and industry. We combine chemistry, materials science, and process technology to design catalysts that significantly improve the efficiency, economics, and sustainability of chemical processes.
Our strength lies in translating scientific knowledge into practical applications. At Tech-Cat, we develop advanced catalytic materials and technologies that find applications in the chemical, energy, and environmental industries, among others. We focus on increasing reaction efficiency, reducing raw material and energy consumption, and limiting emissions, supporting the transition towards green and responsible chemistry.
We utilize modern instrumentation and innovative research methods to precisely design catalysts and optimize processes. We actively collaborate with industrial partners and research centers in Poland and abroad, offering know-how, expert support, and solutions tailored to real-world technological needs.
